A documentary every person should watch July 27, 2010

“It’s an idea that most of us would rather not face — that within the next century, life as we know it could come to an end. Our civilization could crumble, leaving only traces of modern human existence behind. It seems outlandish, extreme — even impossible. But according to cutting edge scientific research, it is a very real possibility. And unless we make drastic changes now, it could very well happen. Experts have a stark warning: that unless we change course, the “perfect storm” of population growth, dwindling resources and climate change has the potential to converge in the next century with catastrophic results.” via abc news

Our favourite part of the documentary is the ending. Such a marvelous global civilization we could emerge to be with careful and intelligent planning and (re)design.

What you didn’t hear in the media about the G20… July 14, 2010

“When police officers act like criminals, democracy dies a little. That’s what we face in Toronto in the aftermath of the G20 debacle amid reports of police misconduct. Officers making Holocaust jokes, mocking people begging for water and laughing at detained women forced to urinate in public and wipe themselves while handcuffed.”
